Women of the NALC

NEWS from the Women of the NALC group of St. Matthew

” ALL” women of St. Matthew are members of this group, and are welcome to participate in our activities. Our mission is to serve the Lord, through serving our church and our community, and each other when need be, and to have some fun along the way. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm and are usually done by 8:30pm. We will not meet in June or August. Please contact Pam K.

Save the Dates: Events held physically at church have been canceled with no postponement dates being posted. We will keep you informed of events at church once we are given the go ahead to open our doors with capacity of more than 10.

Donations during the COVID-19 Crisis: The WNALC have recently sent 40 – $5.00 Dunkin Donut gift cards to the ICU at FSMC and 50 – $5 Dunkin Donut gift cards to the nurses at the ER of FSMC , in an effort to show our community gratitude for their frontline service during this most challenging time. We plan to do this again in late May to some of our other frontline workers in the community. If you would like to donate to this mission, you may do so by sending your donation either to church, or directly to Pam K. Please make the checks payable to St. Matthew Lutheran Church and mark in the memo portion “WNALC”. Thank you for all of your support and generosity!

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our annual April baby shower to benefit the CPC (Center for Pregnancy Concerns) in Essex. As they are continuing to serve women in crisis on a limited basis, we will be sending them a cash donations (in lieu of tangible items) to assist them in their mission. If this touches your heart, please feel free to help us in this endeavor with a donation sent either to church or Pam K.

Women's Retreat 2019

Our group has arranged with the VA Hospital @ Perry Point to visit there the 3rd Wednesday of every month, to interact with a group of inpatient Veterans. Ann and Steve were the only people available in December, but they delivered all our goodie bags to the “Boys” which thrilled them! One of the vets stated it was the best Christmas in many years! We work with them in PT, drawing, playing games helping them with crafts etc. They really look forward to our visits, as do we. It’s very rewarding.

We take snacks and coffee and personal items for them to enjoy. If you can donate to this mission, we need:

  • snacks (“sugar free” pudding cups, although most any snack is useful)
  • coffee in tins/plastic as oppose to K-cups
  • creamer (powder and non-refrigerated cups)
  • sugar and sweeteners
  • T-shirts (size L, XL and 2X), PJ bottoms, and sweats. (All sizes Med and up).
  • personal care products, in regular size (not hotel/travel). Shampoo, soap, deodorant, tooth and denture care items. Socks, combs, brushes, books, puzzles, and other entertainment items.

Please consider joining us for our monthly visit. It is very appreciated for the vets and heart warming for us.
If you and any questions/comments, please contact Pam K. or Ann J

I know it seems as if someone is always asking for something; and we cannot always give to everything, but please pray about it and contribute to the cause or causes that touch your heart.

Thank you and blessings to all the wonderful folks that make up St. Matthew. We are truly BLESSED beyond measure!
